Hiroshima Peace Memorial

This is the second time I go to Hiroshima.

image

The Atomic bomb dome

Eventhough I went there for a second time, I got emotional, just walking and going to the museum again.

image

Specially the childrens’ memorial  and the story of Sadako Sasaki.

The museum contains things from people that died. Sometimes just hard to see, but  we need to remember how horrible war can be.

To get there take the electric car line 2 or 6 from Hiroshima station. It costs 160 yen , pay when you get off the car.
You dont need to get a ticket,  just pay when you get off.
There is also a free bus for JR pass holders. Take the bus at the entrance of the Hiroshima Granvia Hotel . The bus will stop at many touristic spots.

I stayed in Hiroshima, but if you stay in Osaka is like 1hour and a half, so its possible to go there for a day trip. Remember to book shinkansen seats.

Osaka Dotonbori

Osaka is an exciting city. I spent there most nighttimes and daytimes went to visit Kyoto.
From Osaka to Kyoto is 13 minutes by shinkansen. There are always seats available in the non reserved cars, but if its a holiday its better to reserve a seat.

Close to Namba station is Dotonbori street , full of restaurants and shops ( lot of people too)

Dont forget to eat Takoyaki. I ate in this restaurant and it was delicious.
8 Takoyakis for aprox $6.

From Osaka station to Namba we took a private line, no JR line.

Restaurants in Dotonbori are littleĀ  expensier than at the subway station.
I ate at Dotonbori, but I think food was better at the station.

Anyway, Dotonbori is a must visit in Japan^^

Today I went to this all you can eat restaurant , it is located on the 14th floor  of the Daimaru department store in Osaka station. Price is around $19 lunch time , 90 minutes , actually 45 minutes its enough.

Lots of people, so go early or after 1.30pm

Asakusa

image

I went to Asakusa  and visited Sensoji temple. I visited this place 5 years ago and its a must visit, but  because it was a Holiday in Japan, it was too crowded or probably comparing to five years ago it got more tourists.

image

But anyway, it was spectacular.

image

I also noticed it got more commercial than 5 years ago, more shops and  restaurants. It takes half of a day to visit it.

image

I love the shops in Nakamise Dori, there are so many cute japanese souvenirs.
It takes time to look around, I spent there the whole morning^^

I took the Yamanote line to Ueno , then changed to Ginza line towards Asakusa .
Its very close to Ueno, so then I spent the afternoon in Ueno.

Tokyo Tower

image

Entrance fee for main observatory is around $9, for the top is $16 .
I went to the main observatory and got a great view of Tokyo. I didnt spend lot of time there, but it was cool.

The closest station is  Akabanebashi. From there only 5 minutes walk. Akabanebashi is not from JR .

Uobei Fun restaurant

A fun sushi restaurant in Shibuya. Lot of tourists there, long waiting line, but moves fast, it was worth the waiting.

Ordering from a screen, the menu is also in English, it takes a few minutes to understand how to order, but then its very easy.

It is very inexpensive!!!! around
$1 to $3 per dish and delicious.
Nigiri,  miso soup, fried chicken, desserts, etc.

Japan Rail and Narita Express

Just landed in Japan. First thing to do is exchange the voucher for the Japan Rail Pass.

image

The JR office is in the lower level . Take vouchers and passports and fill and application there. The office has a Red sign . It was very easy to find. They gave me my Japann Railpass card and also  booked my seat for the Narita Express.

After that , I exchanged some money, but money rate was very low 103 yen per dollar. If someone knows where else to exchange money in Japan, please let me know because it was kind of difficult.

Now Iam taking the Narita express which will take me to Shinjuku. The Narita Express is located in the lower level of the airport.  One level lower than the JR east office. There are lot of signs so dont worry, you wont get lost.
From Narita to Shinjuku it takes one hour and a half aprox.
