Festivals in Korea

There are many festivals throughout the year in Korea.  Go to the website of visit Korea to check for specific dates.

I went to some festivals and here are some pictures.

image

Lantern Festival in Seoul, very cool!

image

I dont remember the nameof this,  but it was light and music in Gyeongbokgung Palace

image

Fireworks in Seoul, I dont recommend this one. It was very crowded, people pushing.

image

Rice festival Icheon city

image

Very interesting and lot of makgeolli and food.

There is also Kimchi festival in Seoul, check it out^^

Burgers in Korea

Beef is expensive in Korea so eating hamburgers  can be expensive.  Of course you can always find Mc Donalds, Burger King menus from 4 to 6 dollars.

I wanted to eat a good burger, so I went to Burger Hunter and found it delicious. Burger starts at $8  aprox , sides $3-$4 dollars. Beverages $2.

image

I really liked the decoration

image

Burger was good, but size was small.

image

Another day I went to Mos Burger. This was less expensive and way better than Mc Donalds. Burger, fries and drink $10 aprox .

image

No decoration, it was like a fast food restaurant

image

Size of burger was also small.

image

I would go again

I also ate at  Lotteria, but this is a fast food chain like mc donalds. You can order bulgogi burger, I havent tried it yet.

They have a lunch special for $3 aprox, but for $3 you can also eat a good cafeteria meal at a university in Seoul.

Next topic Cafeteria Food in Korea^^

Mexican Food in Seoul

If you miss mexican food, try these restaurants in Seoul.

Mariachi, this is a small restaurant in sinsa, close to the station and next to a movie theater.

image

image

Food was really good. I had chicken tacos and a burrito.

image

Vatos is a great restaurant to go with friends or your significant other. Also in sinsa.

image

Good decor

image

Good food, mix of mexican and korean food.

image

They have lunch menu.

image

Grandes margaritas!!!

image

Then Julio is a mexican restaurant in Gangnam. First time I went was delicious, but second time was so so.

image

It is always crowded, so go early.

Mexican food is popular in Seoul^^

Street Food Korea

I have to admit, I was hesitant. I always think I will get sick if I eat street food, but it looked soooo delicious, I gave it a try.

image

Here you can see fried vegetables , rice cake, hot dogs.

image

I tried Tokbokki and fried food. The fried food was too oily, but the tokbokki was good.

image

It was a good experience and I didnt get sick. I saw many office workers eating here as well. I spent like 3 dollars, very cheap.

image

My favorite street food is cup chicken, for 2 dollars you can get this cup full of spicy fried chicken. Some chicken shops sell this.
Who wants chicken?

All you can Eat Seoul

I went to three all you can eat restaurants in Seoul

image

Ashley was the most expensive, beautiful but not lot of food. We had to wait a lot to eat a slice of pizza. The food is ok. Price 14 dollars aprox.

image

The Self Bar

image

In this restaurant you have to cook the meats. They have lot of banchan and some fried food like tempura, rice and soup.  This was 9 dollars per person. The quality of the meat is not great, but for 9 dollars I dont complain.

image

Pulipchae buffet restaurant

image

In pastel city, sadang station. This is my favorite, lot of choices and great food. This is a korean buffet restaurant, but  they have salads as well. Price is around 12 dollars.

image

I am hungry again^^

Tea House

No coffee, no problem, drink Tea!
I  visited two tea houses in Seoul. One traditional and one very famous.

First one in Insadong, very small beautiful Tea House.

image

image

They had many types of teas and beautiful tea cups.

image

This tea house was very cozy and the tea is natural. I visited in November so they had already a xmas tree.

image

I visited Osulloc in the summer

image

Very modern and famous for green tea.

image

I had green tea ice cream

image

My friend had a green tea beverage, but cant remember the name TT

*The two Tea Houses are very different one is the traditional tea house and the other is very modern with a modern menu.

And how about tea? Next post^^

Coffee Time Korea

When I arrived in Seoul, I was very surprised of the number of coffee shops. Ive never seen so many in any other city. I thought Spain had a lot of coffee shops, but Seoul wins.

image

Coffee shops are the place to meet your friends, study, date, relax , work, text,  etc. Even fight (  I saw a couple  fighting and nobody said anything, probably because they were around 60 years old)

Koreans adore their coffee shops and sometimes  spend more money in coffee than a meal. Actually it costs almost same, 4 or 5  dollars aprox for a capuccino, but in college, cafeterias
meals are 3 or 4 dollars.

image

My language teacher always said, koreans are crazy about coffee.

Of course there is also Starbucks.

image

Most korean coffee shops are very similar to Starbucks.

When I lived in Spain I always had coffee with a croissant or a spanish pastry. The barista was not young at all and from the entrance, I could smell the toasted coffee. I miss that.

In my next post I will write about the coffee shops.

Pattaya

On our way to Pattaya we stopped at the Maeklong Railway Market, but missed to see the train pass.

image

Anyway, it was very interesting.

Basic ingredient in Thai food

Nice view from the van.

image

Thai pizza with ketchup sauce. I ate like Thai people, so I tried my pizza with ketchup sauce!

image

View from the Royal cliff hotel in Pattaya.

image

image

The hotel was impressive and the breakfast buffet extraordinary

image

Pattaya is a touristic destination and  very popular. I stayed at the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel, it has a private beach which is better than the public beach.
It is not close to the city center, but it is also good because in the city center there are lot of prostitutes.

image

Pattaya’s mall, you can do a lot of shopping here

image

Street of Pattaya, it gets crowdy

image

There are lot of good restaurants in Pattaya.

image

image

Pattaya is very touristic and crowdy different from Hua Hin which is very calm .

The beach in Pattaya was beautiful, but again I recommend the private beach

image

I finish my Thai trip here. I visited great places , ate delicious food and spent great time with my Thai best friend. I hope to visit again this great country.
